On Sunday 2nd February, the 2's welcomed Clydesdale Western 7's for a match that had been patiently waited to be played from November last year... that's the Scottish weather for you!
The game started off strong from both teams, with a lot of play in the middle of the pitch and occasionally play in each others teams attacking area. Both Dumfries and Clydesdale won a handful of short corners but nothing came out of them. Finally, in the second quarter striker Molly Quinn score for Dumfries with a lovely assist, half time 1-0 to the Doonhamers.
After a positive team talk at half time Dumfries went back on the pitch ready for another goal, there was some lovely play again from both teams until unfortunately 2 Clydesdale players had a bash of heads resulting in one of them to be off for the rest of the game. We hope this player gets better soon! Leaving Clydesdale with 10 men and no goalie Dumfries seen this as a golden opportunity for another goal, Molly scored her second goal of the game making it 2-0 and this was the final result!
This was a great result for the girls as it marked Dumfries debuts for two youngsters, Ava Stenton and Phoebe Hodgson and a special mention also to Beth Wright who had her first game back with the 2's this season!
Clydesdale awarded Player of the Match to Gladys McClymont and captains player went to Molly Quinn.
This weekend sees the 2's travel to play Glasgow Accies on Saturday and have a home match against Stepps on Sunday.
