Dumfries Secure a 4–2 Victory! ??

GU were quick off the mark, breaking from Dumfries’ attacking D straight up the pitch and into our defensive D to score first.

But Dumfries weren’t going to let that stand for long! We quickly hit back with a beautiful assist from Effie G into the D, where Jen Law tucked it neatly past the GU goalie to level the score at 1–1.

Just before the end of the first quarter, Morven bolted up the pitch and slipped a lovely pass to birthday gal Bex Topping, who slotted it into the goal to put Dumfries ahead 2–1 at the end of Q1! ??

The second quarter saw plenty of pressure from the GU gals, but our Dumfries defence stood strong. Emily, Esme, Kathryn and Vicky held their ground and worked hard to keep GU at bay.

Into the third quarter, Dumfries came out strong down the left side. Jane found Eilidh, who linked up with Jen Law, and Jen assisted Effie, who cheekily shoved the ball between the goalie’s legs! Another fantastic goal for Dumfries! ?

But GU weren’t backing down. They powered forward and knocked Ally to the floor as she battled to clear the ball. GU managed to pop it over her and into the net, bringing the score to 3–2 at the end of Q3.

The final quarter was a real battle, with Dumfries giving it everything they had! Jane Swanson zoomed through the centre and found Jen Law, who whacked the ball into the D. It was a high one, but our Morven was there to dink it beautifully into the back of the net!

GOAL! 4–2 DUMFRIES! ?

With just two minutes left on the clock, nerves were building, but thankfully the final whistle blew, sealing a brilliant 4–2 victory for Dumfries! ??

What a team performance, with fantastic attacking play, a strong defence and goals at all the right moments. Well done, Dumfries — and a very happy birthday to Bex Topping! ??

The Player of the match was Jane Swanson.
Many thanks to our umpires Gladys and James.
