

On Friday 27th Feb, Dumfries Ladies 1st XI travelled to Ayr to play the twice rearranged fixture from the 1st half of the season.
Ayr have had very strong results and Dumfries were ready for a tough match. With a squad of 11, Dumfries settled in to their formation and every member of the team displayed strength and determination to hold the first quarter at 0-0.
Ayr eventually opened the scoring in the 2nd quarter from a short corner.
Dumfries defence were required to be switched on at all times, and fantastic saves from Ally in goals kept Ayr at bay.
Half time: 1-0
Ayr extended their lead from a open play in the 3rd quarter, and then again in the 4th with a penalty flick, awarded after a Dumfries foot on the goal line.
Dumfries continued with grit, but the strikers were denied a few chances.
Ayr completed their 4-0 win with a goal in the final quarter from open play.
Dumfries travelled home knowing they had matched Ayr in much of the game, but were not rewarded with any points.
