A squad of 13 made the trip to Glasgow to face Clydesdale Western Ladies 4s, with Lily Callander making her debut in goal for the Dumfries Ladies 1s and Vicky Johnstone making a very welcome return to the side.
The match began at a high tempo, with Clydesdale Western putting early pressure on the Dumfries defence in the first quarter. Despite some solid defending, the home side capitalised on two short corners to take a 2–0 lead.
In the second quarter, Dumfries began to settle into the game, adapting well to Clydesdale’s narrow style of play. The team grew into the match, moving the ball more confidently and creating better structure across the pitch.
The breakthrough came in the third quarter with a well-worked team move. The ball started on the back left, moving from Morven to Eilidh, before being received by Bex, who struck a fantastic shot to bring the score back to 2–1. Dumfries continued to build momentum and soon found an equaliser. Bex delivered a pass across the D to Iona on the right, who played it back to Beth to score and level the game at 2–2.
In the final quarter, Dumfries showed determination and composure to hold their ground, defending well and maintaining pressure until the final whistle. The match finished 2–2, with Vicky Johnstone awarded Player of the Match for her solid return to midfield.
