

Less than 24 hours after their Friday night away fixture, Dumfries Ladies 1st XI hosted Hillhead 3s at home on 28th Feb.
The first quarter saw several chances for Dumfries to score, but they were denied by Hillhead's keeper. The legs were weary, but Dumfries kept up the pressure and were rewarded in the 2nd quarter when Effie Gunn collected the ball on the right, passed in to the D for Rebecca Topping to slot home to make it 1-0.
Dumfries used their rolling subs to ensure they could keep up the pressure.
Hillhead had some strong individual play and Ally McCubbin (GK) was tested, but with great saves and the backing of her defence, Hillhead were denied.
Hillhead evened the score in open play in the 3rd quarter to make it 1-1.
Going in to the final quarter, Dumfries kept the pressure on in search for a winner.
Iona Morrin came up with the goods, receiving a pass from Maz Boulton, then driving up the sideline from half way and beating defenders and the keeper. Relief all round for Dumfries.
Rebecca Topping rounded off the afternoon to make a 3-1 win, assisted by Kathryn Sinclair.
Beth Sloan was awarded Payer of the Match, rewarding her control and playmaking throughout the match in the midfield.
