The Ladies had an away trip on Sunday to top of the table CWL 4s knowing it was going to be a stern test against a team full of international caps and excellent young talent.
From the 1st minute it was back to wall for the defence of McCubbin, Kitson, Beattie, Nicholson and Anderson but they stood firm for the 1st quarter dealing with numerous short corners. The 2nd quarter followed the same vane but the defence was breached with a lovely goal from Clydesdale running the left side line, along the back line then cutting back to there striker to slot the ball in at the far corner. The 1st half ended 1.0
Start of the 2nd half the Dumfries midfield or Morrin, McCall, Law and Austin started to make headway into the Clydesdale half getting the ball to forwards Drife, Russell & for the day Bell-Irving Boulton(how she was still running after running 10K in the morning!!!!!!)
Dumfries won a couple of corners but could not convert. The killer blow then came with a fluke touch in the Dumfries D that nutmegged keeper McCubbin 2.0. The wind was then totally taken out of Dumfries when the ball hit a defenders foot on the line which led to a penalty stroke which was converted and to rub salt in a 2nd stroke was awarded which again was converted (just).
The last quarter was much more flowing for Dumfries who won more corners and Law managed to fire an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner.
