On an unusually sunny Dumfries day the men’s 2s were playing at home against Clydesdale 6s.

The KGV side were looking to consolidate their recent good form and show how they have improved since the heavy loss on their away game against the Dale.

Dumfries started well and had some good play without troubling the away keeper. In fact the home side dominated the ball in the 1st quarter but it remained 0-0.

The second quarter continued in the same vein with Dumfries dominating possession but again no clear chances were created.

0-0 half time.

The 3rd quarter began and the Dale side must have had a stern half time team talk as they came out much more determined and had much more of the ball. The constant pressure meant that Calum in goals had to make some really good saves to keep it goalless. However from a short corner the deadlock was unfortunately broken by the Dale after a hard shot slotted into the goal after the post was left unmarked.

The final quarter started with Dumfries knowing that they were still in the match and they knew just like last week a goal could come anytime.

Although there were several great passages of team play the goal that their performance deserved did not come this time .

Full time 0-1.

Special mention to Flint Thomson who made his first competitive match for Dumfries and didn’t look out of place , which is remarkable as he doesn’t turn 10 till this week.

This was another fantastic team performance and consistency has proven what the team can achieve as a group regardless of of the match score.

Well done to Liam Mills who after a close vote was the Player of the Match.
