Dumfries IIIs 1 - 1 Clydesdale Development

In a hugely proud moment for the club, we fielded a 3rd men's team for the first time in our history. Today we welcomed Clydesdale Hockey Club boys development squad to KGV. There were debuts today for C Little, T Law, C Chandler-Rogers, G Holmes & F Bailey whilst E Little played his second game and J Callander & C Turner completed their first full season of hockey.

The game started in glorious sunshine and Dumfries got out the traps well having some nice play down both wings. Clydesdale did show their experience and took a foothold in the game, winning a number of penalty corners. The defensive line of Chandler-Rogers, Holmes, Wisdom, McCuaig and Turner defended superbly well with Turner pulling off a number of saves in goal. The visitors would take the lead on the 10th minute when a fine strike from a penalty corner found the bottom left corner. Dumfries would not be disheartened and played well to see out the half. HT 0-1.

The second half started with Clydesdale having good possession and creating a number of chances in the D. But Turner was on fine form and continued to pull off a number of saves in goals. Dumfries would get themselves level in the game with ten minutes to play when I Callander picked up a loose pass before carrying the ball forward into the D. His square pass found debutant G Holmes open and he smashed the ball past the keeper into the goal. The visitors pressed for a winner in the closing stages but the match ended in a draw. FT 1-1.

A huge well done to all the players today, especially to those who stepped up to play their first games.
