Sunday 27th October seen the 2's play their second game of the weekend. Coming off their win, the 2's were hungry to grab 6/6 points from the league this weekend.
A long day for Arran but you would not think they had had a long journey down as they scored 2 goals within the first 5 minutes. Dumfries regrouped quickly and made sure not to concede more. With help on the sidelines from coach Mags Dumfries listened and applied the corrections to deny Arran of anymore goals despite their hard efforts.
Dumfries finally broke down Arran's defence when Eilidh passed the ball through to Effie to make the score line 2-1. Dumfries were not backing down. Both teams had even play of the ball both hungry for more goals however when the halftime whistle went the score remained 2-1 to Arran...
Dumfries were motivated to increase the score and to have a repeat of Saturday's game despite the tired legs from those who played both games.
Dumfries went into the second half ready to go. The amazing teamwork from Eilidh and Effie seen Dumfries equal the score line but this time Effie assisted Eilidh who scored for Dumfries. Arran were determined to beat Dumfries and had plenty of chances but were held off by the defensive line of goalkeeper Lily, Iona, Jane, Emma and Katie several times and playing the ball away back up for Dumfries to attack.
Unfortunately they could only hold off the attacking Arran team for so long as they went 3-2 up in the 60th minute.
It only took 3 minutes for Dumfries to bite back as in the 63rd minute Gladys assisted Rebecca who scored to make the score 3-3.
As the game was drawing to a close both teams were hungry for that 4th goal. It took for a short corner to be awarded to Dumfries in the last seconds of the game for this to become a reality. Gladys injected the ball to the top of the D and a strong strike from Fiona Bryce seen Dumfries go 4-3 up and the final whistle blew!
An amazing win for Dumfries to close their double header of games and take 6/6 points.
Well done to Iona Morrin who was awarded opposition MOTM and captains player but a special mention also went to Jane Young who also played a huge part in denying Arran to score anymore goals.
A special mention to Niamh Whelan who played her debut game for Dumfries.
Huge thanks to Ross, Iain and Scott who umpired for the 2's this weekend and to Mags for coaching the 2's to 2 successful wins.
