Dumfries produced an impressive performance on Saturday 31st October, securing a well-deserved 4–2 victory over Troon in an entertaining home fixture.

Facing a young and energetic Troon side, Dumfries used their experience and composure to take control of the game, dominating possession for long periods and creating plenty of attacking opportunities.

From the outset, Dumfries looked dangerous, particularly down the right-hand side, where Effie Gunn caused Troon plenty of problems throughout the match. Her driving runs and attacking intent helped create several opportunities, including a couple of short corners for Dumfries.

The opening goal came from a superb fast break, with Dumfries' midfield applying excellent pressure to turn defence into attack. Jane Swanston kept the pressure on, forcing an own goal from the Troon defence to give Dumfries the lead.

Dumfries continued to build momentum and wasted no time after the restart. Early in the second quarter, Jenna Drife found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2–0. With Dumfries firmly on top, Bex Topping added a third before half-time, capping off an excellent first-half display.

Troon came out fighting after the break and looked to make the most of their opportunities on the counterattack. Dumfries' defence stood firm, doing well to shut down a couple of dangerous fast breaks. The pressure continued at both ends, but it was Dumfries who struck again, with Morven Dobie finding the net in the third quarter to make it 4–0.

Troon refused to give up and capitalised on a couple of turnovers in the third and fourth quarters, winning short corners and converting their opportunities to bring the score back to 4–2.

Despite the late pressure, Dumfries maintained their composure to see out the game and secure all three points.

A fantastic team performance, with strong midfield pressure, attacking flair and a solid defensive effort laying the foundations for a deserved home win.
