Dumfries headed up the A76 for their 'local' derby against Ayr. A bare XI was available travelled in good spirits buoyed by last week's win v Western.

Dumfries came out of the traps quickly when Callander found Johnston in the D to make it 1-0 after 50 seconds. 0-1. The first quarter continued with Dumfries possession but couldn't extend their lead.
Ayr stepped into the game a bit more in the second quarter but couldn't trouble Oakes in goals. Dumfries did manage to double their lead when Callander found Drysdale-Mills on the base line and he scored from an improbable angle with a deft first time finish. 0-2.

A positive half time team talk from Dumfries to maintain the standards demonstrated so far. Ayr came out fast in the third quarter, hunting for a way back into the game but the Dumfries back line didn't break. Dumfries won a short corner on the break and Aitken's top D shot was touched in by Callander. 0-3.
The fourth quarter was similar but once again Dumfries stood firm and Ayr failed to threaten Oakes' goal. A strong Dumfries press allowed Drysdale-Mills to steal the ball high up, he then passed to Johnston, who then squared to Kershaw for a tap in at the back post. 0-4. Dumfries then put the finishing touches onto the victory when Callanders long ball forward found Kershaw. He then drove forward and passed to Johnston to in the D, who then squared it to Drysdale-Mills for a tap in for his second. 0-5.

A strong team performance from all eleven players as the men record back to back victories as well a first clean sheet for Oakes. Here's hoping we don't have to wait three years for the next one.
