Dumfries played Rottenrow in torrential rain and hail. Due to umpiring issues the men in red were one man down for the game.
A quick start from Rottwnrow, and a goal from a short corner along with another in open play left Dumfries shell shocked. With some wonderful wing play from Fred Kershaw Dumfries had won a short corner. Following a thorough discussion and tactical analysis Dumfries executed their plan to perfection. An injection from Ryan Johnston to James Aitken at top dee split the Rottenrow runners apart, Aitken then gave it short back to Johnston who behind his back redirected the ball into the bottom right corner past a defenceless Rottenrow keeper. Soon the first quarter came to a close. Rottenrow started the second quarter with intensity and extended their lead with two well worked goals. Dumfries refused to let their heads get down and continued to test the oppositions defence not finding much luck in terms of outcomes.
HT 1-4
With the first attack from pushback Rottenrow put the game to bed with their 5th. Dumfries kept looking for goals but to no avail.
Seeking personal justice Adam Kerr lashed his stick upon a helpless Rottenrow midfielder earning himself a two minute breather on the sideline. In Q4 Rottenrow put the finishing touches on their performance with a 6th goal. However, Dumfries kept up the pressure and had some great play on the attack. Winning a short in the final minutes of the game the men in red looked for a repeat of Johnston’s earlier brilliance. However Rottenrow stifled our dreams and the game wrapped up. Many thanks to Ian who stepped up to umpire the game.
A big congratulations to Logan Drysdale-Mills who made his debut for the 1s, the youngster making the step up from the 2s.
Player of the Match was Ryan Johnston
